Protecting your account and your data is a core part of how Football Planet operates. This page explains what we do to keep the platform secure and what you can do to protect your account.
1. How We Protect Your Account
Password Security
Passwords are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing (scrypt). Football Planet never stores or has access to your plain-text password.
Encrypted Connections
All data between your browser and Football Planet is transmitted over HTTPS using TLS encryption. This protects your data in transit.
Session Management
Login sessions are secured with cryptographically signed tokens. Sessions expire after a period of inactivity and can be invalidated immediately on logout.
Access Controls
Your private messages, account settings, and personal data are only accessible when you are authenticated. Football Planet staff access user data only when required for legitimate operational, safety, or legal reasons.
2. How to Protect Your Account
Account security is a shared responsibility. Here's what you can do:
- Use a strong, unique password for your Football Planet account — one you don't use anywhere else.
- Never share your password with anyone, including people claiming to be Football Planet staff. We will never ask for your password.
- Log out of shared or public devices after using Football Planet.
- Use an email address you control and keep it up to date — this is how we'll contact you if there's a security issue.
- If you receive a suspicious message from another user asking for your login details, report it immediately and do not respond.
3. What to Do If Your Account Is Compromised
If you think your account has been accessed by someone else
Step 1: Immediately change your password via your account settings.
Step 2: Change your email account password if you use the same one elsewhere.
Step 3: Contact Football Planet via the Contact page or the Contact Us button in the sidebar. We will investigate and, if necessary, lock the account to prevent further access.
Step 4: Review recent activity on your account and report any posts or messages you did not send.
4. Reporting a Security Vulnerability
Responsible Disclosure
If you discover a security vulnerability on Football Planet — such as an authentication bypass, data exposure, or cross-site scripting issue — please report it responsibly.
Do not exploit the vulnerability or attempt to access other users' data. Instead, contact us privately via our contact form with a description of what you found and how to reproduce it.
We take all security reports seriously and will respond promptly. We appreciate responsible disclosure and will credit researchers who help keep Football Planet secure (with their permission).
5. Account Suspension & Bans
Football Planet may suspend or permanently ban accounts that:
Violate the Terms & Conditions or Community Guidelines.
Engage in spam, phishing, or attempts to compromise other users' accounts.
Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or exploit the platform.
Are involved in coordinated inauthentic behaviour or bot activity.
Receive confirmed reports of serious abuse, harassment, or illegal content.
If your account has been suspended and you believe this was in error, you may appeal by contacting us via our contact page.
6. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your Football Planet account and associated personal data at any time. This is your right under applicable data protection law.
To request account deletion, contact us via the Contact page. We will process your request within 30 days. Some data may be retained for legal compliance purposes — details are in our Privacy Policy.
7. Data Breaches
In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal data, Football Planet will notify affected users in accordance with applicable data protection law (including the UK GDPR / EU GDPR 72-hour notification requirement to supervisory authorities where applicable). Notifications will be sent to the email address associated with your account.
